We launched one of the first webinar series specifically on nonprofit communications and marketing topics.
Kivi began delivering keynotes and workshops at national nonprofit and association conferences across the United States.
2009
We first released one of our most popular downloads, The First 100 Days of Your New Nonprofit Marketing Job.
Kristina Leroux, Kivi’s sister, joined the Nonprofit Marketing Guide team as a virtual assistant.
2010
Kivi’s first book, The Nonprofit Marketing Guide: High-Impact, Low-Cost Ways to Build Support for Your Good Cause, was published by Jossey-Bass (Wiley).
We began blogging Monday through Friday, instead of just two or three times a week.
2011
We launched the Communications Director Mentoring Program, a comprehensive six-month training and coaching program for nonprofit communications professionals.
We released the first Nonprofit Communications Trends Report.
We launched the monthly “Nonprofit Writing Prompts” newsletter.
2012
Kristina stepped into a new role as our Community Engagement Manager.
2013
Kivi’s second book, Content Marketing for Nonprofits: A Communications Map for Engaging Your Community, Becoming a Favorite Cause, and Raising More Money was published by Jossey-Bass (Wiley).
2014
Content Marketing for Nonprofits won the prestigious Terry McAdam Book Award.
Kivi became a Certified Executive Coach through the Center for Executive Coaching
2016
Kristina became a full partner in Nonprofit Marketing Guide LLC and our Chief Operating Officer.
We released data documenting the importance of a strong working relationship between the executive director and the communications staff.
2017
We released data for the first time about the four most popular types of communications teams in the nonprofit sector, including the pros and cons of each type. We also shared extensive data on how communications teams can measure their own effectiveness.
2018
Kivi’s third book, CALM not BUSY: How to Manage Your Nonprofits Communications for Great Results, was published by Bold & Bright Media, which Kivi co-founded with Antionette Kerr.
Kivi became a Transform Your Boundaries ® Certified Trainer.
We also published the Nonprofit Communications Strategic Planning Card Deck.
2019
We released data on the most common nonprofit marketing strategies, communications team sizes and budgets, and team salaries.
2020
We released the 10th Annual Nonprofit Communications Trends Report, including new data on communications objectives in the nonprofit sector, and a warning about how nonprofits were managing their email and social media channels.
Partially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we designed new ways to present training online that we used to present in-person in two highly engaging, interactive formats. Our Jump Starters and Master Classes allow participants to meet and collaborate with other communications directors and to accomplish real work they can use in their organizations.
2021
We started the year with a rebrand, including a new logo and website.
The second edition of The Nonprofit Marketing Guide was published by Wiley & Sons.
We published the 10 Keys to Nonprofit Communications Success.
We launched our own private community for nonprofit communicators, leaving Facebook Groups behind (and stopped posting as a company on Facebook entirely).
2022
Anysa Holder joined our team as a Senior Advisor. She shares her experiences as a VP of a large nonprofit through webinars, blog posts, and community conversations.
In our annual Trends Report, we shared new insights on what to expect as your nonprofit communications team grows.
2023
We launched the Nonprofit Marketing Guide Community apps for both Android and iOS.
